Sweet Summer Time

I can’t believe we’re already half-way through this month of May, and next month will be the half-way point in 2016. This year has been FLYING by, and it doesn’t show any sign of slowing down. A lot has been happening this year, and it’s been really good. I’ve been trying not to jinx anything, and keeping my fingers crossed things continue to go smoothly.

For the first time in a long time, we’re in a good place in our marriage financially and relationship wise. Don’t get me wrong, we do still have little tiffs, but for the most point it’s been a while since we’ve had a “knock-down drag-out”. I think we’ve finally found our groove in this whole marriage thing, and it’s been really nice. Financially, we’ve gotten things straightened out, and there are weeks where money still gets tight, but our bills are paid and we are fed every day so…in my book that’s pretty straightened out.

I think all of these things are starting to finally mesh because we are finally both on the same page, and we have a common goal in mind. I didn’t realize how much of a difference it would make in our every day routine if we were on the same track with things. We can FINALLY talk things out without them spiraling into an argument (most of the time) and if we are in a bad mood, we just wait and discuss it later. People told me to “find a common goal, work towards it together” and it only took me (give or take) three years to finally realize they were right.

I’m having a bit of writers block lately, but I believe it’s due to work getting more hectic and life at home never slows down with a husband and three dogs and the “farm” we have outside. I’ve recently added four kittens to my ever-growing list of animals I take care of. My in-laws left for work last week, and they had just discovered four kittens living under their house thanks to their Mama Cat leaving them there. They really don’t like for people to touch them, but we’re working on that…I can tame just about any animal, so they were left to me to take care of. I’ve also decided it was time to finish decorating our house and doing a little “nesting” and cleaning out spare rooms, so little by little, I’m adding more touches here and there to make our house even more homey. It’s taken so long due to us pouring money into other areas that demanded payment first, but now I can pinch a little and save a little and add new things to make it even more….well…us.

With the long weekend coming up, I’m hoping to be able to get in my spare room some and get it cleaned out. We have a….storage room….that we don’t ever go in, and I’m wanting to get in there and get all of the boxes and totes out of there and get it as clean as possible. Why? Because we are wanting to start a family, and it’s the perfect size for a nursery. I want it cleaned out BEFORE we get pregnant so I don’t have to worry as much about sorting through tons of stuff while creating another human…it just sounds exhausting. What’s in this storage room, you may ask? Well…I believe my Christmas tree is still sitting in there…put together…with the lights still on it. And our inversion table is set up in there so my husband can use it for his sciatica. But the rest of the stuff is my in-laws. That’s a tale for a whole separate post.

But anyways, that’s just a little of what’s going on in Newish Wife-ville. Not too much that’s terribly interesting, but enough to keep me terribly busy. But, that’s life! How are you all doing out there in the blogosphere?

My overriding take-away is….”…we are wanting to start a family…” Could anything be more exciting?…How wonderful for you and your husband! Also, of course I enjoy your posts so much…and, I love that the kittens have been rescued…and, I can completely relate to the spare room that’s a storage room…the one where I live is slated to be a writing room…in time…yes, that’s procrastination at work…and, I smiled inside when I read of the Christmas tree–I suggested that Justin do the same thing with ours (but, he dismantled it, to my knowledge…I haven’t even been in the room to know that, but I’m pretty sure that he told me he did). Anyway, enough about me…thanks for sharing this enjoyable post 🙂

Thank you so much! Lol yes, we’re finally in a place we believe we’re ready to be parents and now is just the waiting game in that area! Lol the kittens are adorable…but fiesty. Their mom was a wild cat so it’s gonna take so time getting them used to me. But I did it with the litter I found when I moved into our house so I know it CAN be done. Our storage room was originally my “office” but it’s been used as storage since I moved in lol it’s so much easier to just shove stuff in and forget about it! Our tree…I got tired of looking at it in February lol my mom Saran wraps hers with decorations and all and slides it into what used to be my room. So much easier than disassembly! 😊

Our tree was up in February as well! And, as much as I adore Christmas trees, by then it was relegated to an eye-sore that just reminded me that winter mitigation was long gone. haha. It made me smile to think of your mom Saran-Wrapping hers…she is very disciplined…left to my own devices, I would have shoved mine away without a thought for preserving if for the next year…I can be a cross-that-bridge-when-we-come-to-it sort (which sometimes results in re-purchasing things that I didn’t care enough to take care of at the time 🙂 )
